"Supporting Palestinians means supporting Hamas."

Their strongest version

Hamas governs Gaza, some solidarity spaces have excused its atrocities, and its charter and conduct are indefensible.

The response

Sanad's line, stated up front and always: Palestinian civilians are not Hamas, and Palestinian rights precede Hamas by decades and belong to no faction. The conflation works in both directions and rejecting it must too — we don't hold Israelis collectively responsible for their government, and we don't accept two million Gazans being held responsible for theirs (which most never voted for; see the 'no innocents' card). Supporting Palestinian freedom means exactly what supporting any people's freedom means: rights, law, self-determination. If someone in your replies is actually excusing October 7's atrocities, don't defend them — the cause doesn't need it and is damaged by it.

Don’t

Don't get maneuvered into a referendum on Hamas in someone else's frame; state your line once, clearly, and return to the documented subject at hand.
