"UNRWA perpetuates the refugee problem and teaches hatred — it should be dismantled."
Their strongest version
Israel alleged some UNRWA staff participated in October 7; investigations found neutrality violations by some employees; and UNRWA's unique hereditary refugee status is unusual among refugee regimes.
The response
Take the allegations seriously, and cite what investigation actually found. The UN's independent Colonna review examined Israel's claims, found no evidence for the assertion of mass staff militancy, and recommended neutrality reforms UNRWA then adopted; the individual accusations that were substantiated led to dismissals. Now the practical question. 'Dismantle UNRWA' doesn't dismantle refugee status — that comes from UN resolutions, not the agency. It dismantles the schools, clinics, and food distribution that no other body runs for millions across Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. That's why even Israel's own security establishment repeatedly warned against defunding it mid-crisis. The status is 'hereditary' the way statelessness is hereditary: because the dispossession underneath was never resolved. Resolve that, and UNRWA sunsets itself.
